Valentine's day sangria

Valentines Day is a time set aside to celebrate your love for that someone special in your life. Most people go out to dinner to celebrate, I prefer to make a nice romantic meal at home. There´s just something about cooking a meal for your loved one that resonates with me. Nothing says “I Love You´´, quite like a home-cooked meal! But don´t stop with the meal, add a romantic beverage to go along with that plate of food. Instead of giving a bouquet of roses to your sweetie, why not use those roses to create this sexy floral Sangria! Rose petals are one of the ingredients in this delicious drink, sure to impress your honey. What special things do you like to do for your love on Valentine´s Day?

Ingredients

  • 1 bottle (0.750 l) red wine
  • 1 /2 bottle (0. 375 l) brandy or cognac
  • 3/4 cup orange juice
  • 3 /4 cup grapefruit juice
  • 3/4 cup cranberry juice
  • 4 limes
  • 1 cup chopped apple
  • 1 cup chopped orange segments
  • 1 cup chopped cantaloupe
  • 1 cup chopped strawberries
  • 1 cup rose petals

Instructions

  • In punch bowl, combine wine, brandy or cognac, orange juice, grapefruit juice and cranberry juice.
  • Slice 3 limes in half and squeeze the juice into punch bowl.
  • Cut remaining lime in slices, and add them to the bowl.
  • Stir in apple, orange, cantaloupe, strawberries and rose petals into sangria.
  • Pour yourself a glass – Happy Valentine´s Day!

If you prefer a non-alcoholic beverage, just omit the wine & brandy (cognac), it’ll taste just as good!
