As a member of the Everywhere Society, I get to cover some really exciting events at Macy’s. Last weekend I got to attend the Macy’s Mens Style Event in San Francisco. It’s part of a male model casting call, that DETAILS Magazine is doing not only in San Francisco; but in Miami, NY & Chicago. Men from all over the San Francisco Bay Area, turned up for their shot at stardom. The winner will be featured in DETAILS Magazine. Having never been to a men’s casting call before, I was very intrigued by the whole process. Here’s the first contender.
Along with all the male model hopefuls, Macy’s was showcasing their new Spring line of clothes for men, which they’ve dubbed The Modern Minimalist. It entails simplifying your (men’s) look with classic pieces and bright colors. I loved all the colors the line has and think men everywhere will look great in them. I saw quite a few pieces I want to purchase for my spouse and oldest son!
A few of the men vying for the DETAILS Magazine spot, looked like they already knew all about The Modern Minimalist look…
While at the event, I spoke to Kirby Duncan (pictured below), with DETAILS Magazine. He explained to me, and the other bloggers present, that the magazine would be announcing a winner in August. Kirby looks like he should be on the pages of DETAILS, don’tcha think?! The casting call went smoothly. Each model had their photo taken quickly and then the next one got up on stage. Most of them asked the photographer if they could see her camera screen afterwards, to check out their pics. And, of course, there was a DJ!
Speaking of music, after the casting call; we went downstairs at the request of the Macy’s Manager. She told us there was a guitarist entertaining shoppers that we really needed to see. I’m a music lover, so of course I wanted to see and hear this person for myself! His name is Steven Long… and I was blown away!
First, I was blown away by what the Mgr. told me about him. A Macy’s employee saw Steven Long singing in a BART (subway) Station, and brought him to her attention. She then arranged for him to come into Macy’s to perform for their customers. How amazing is that?! Then I heard him sing, and could not believe my ears!
I had a lot of fun attending my first men’s casting call, checking out all the latest men’s fashions and hearing a real musician perform! Thanks, Macy’s!
