US Open Championship: Kid-Friendly With Addition Of Junior Experience Tent

June 12, 2019

This is a sponsored conversation in collaboration with the US Open. All opinions are mine.

You might say kids rule at the 119th US Open Championship! The USGA and US Open are rolling out the red carpet for our children this year. They’re calling it Junior Week and it runs from June 10-16, at Pebble Beach Golf Links, home of the US Open. We got a chance to check it out for ourselves. Our tween & his friend led the way!

There’s an entire area devoted to kids. There are games and interactive activities inside the Junior Experience tent, and more hands-on activities outside the tent. You can’t miss the Jr tent, it’s to your right after you make your way through the main entrance and down the first set of stairs leading to the grassy area. There’s also a huge course map and Rolex clock near the tent.

What can you expect to see at the kids area? How does a golf simulator, chipping challenge, putting green, e-gaming 9-shot challenge, prizes, putting & chipping exercises, crafts station, interactive exercise station & scavenger hunt sound?

Your kids can even color a huge mural set up inside the Junior Experience tent! Pro golfers are on hand to help kids with their golf swing. I spoke to a pro at the Girls Golf tent, and she pretty much convinced me that I should be golfing too! I’m going to look into golf lessons for myself. You’re never too old to learn something new, right?

In case you’re wondering, kids 12 and under get into the US Open for FREE! Just ask for a “Jr Pass” at will call.

Our son had a blast putting on the green. He actually did better than his dad! Lol! He also enjoyed the interactive golf simulators inside the Junior Experience tent. Everywhere I looked, there were kids having fun, participating, interacting with each other, laughing and cheesin’ ear to ear.

There’s plenty of spots to take pics too. Don’t miss the huge Adirondack chairs and the 119th US OPEN photo props.

There are food tents  throughout the golf course. Tip: if you buy a drink, save your cup and take it to the First Aid tent for a free water refill! You can also bring an empty water bottle and fill it up. There’s sunblock you can use at the Girls Golf tent. If you’re an American Express card member, you’ll have access to their lounge area, you just need to show them your credit card to get in. They’re also giving away binoculars & radios to card members.

I want to thank @usopengolf & @USGA for including our kids & providing an area especially for them. As a parent, I appreciate all the hard work that went into planning & executing this enhanced fan experience. Big shoutout to The First Tee, for empowering youth for success through golf.

You guys know I’m all about exposing my sons to every opportunity available. As the Latina mother of multiracial brown sons, I want them to know they can do anything they set their minds to. It was important to me that my child see the golf course where Tiger Woods tasted victory.  Not only did he see the course, but he putted a few golf balls on it! Inclusion rocks!
