Happy Mother’s Day!

May 12, 2013

As I sit down to write this, I am so very thankful that I am a Mother! Motherhood is a blessing, one that not every woman gets to experience. My heart aches for all those women out there that long to be a mom, but have not been able to carry a baby to term. I know how you feel, I lost 2 babies to miscarriage myself. Leaving the hospital empty handed, after delivering a baby that was not alive, was the lowest point of my life. The Lord blessed me with two beautiful, healthy children & for that I am eternally grateful. (Even when they get on my last nerve!!)

I hear so many people asking, “What do you want for Mother’s Day?” The day has become so commercialized, I don’t like that. When all is said & done, I have everything I need. I have my children, without them, there would be no reason to celebrate. I don’t want a new purse. I don’t need anything fancy. Expensive shoes? Nah… not me. Clothes? I have a closet full. I don’t need anything- I have all that I need right here, with my family.

What if we all looked at Mother’s Day differently? What if we used it as an opportunity to Give Back, as a way to say “thank you” for all we have been blessed with? Wouldn’t that be special? That’s what I want to do, I want to give back, I want to help someone else out. The older I get, the more I realize we are here on this Earth to help one another, to lift each other up. I want to be a blessing to others- that’s what I really want, that’s what I need.

Thanks to Macy’s, I recently learned about a fantastic organization named Maiden Nation. They were founded on one basic principle: empowering women through ethical fashion. There are female designers from all across the world, including the U.S., designing products that are ethically sourced. The profits are reinvested in women’s entrepreneurship projects. Their goal is to create a marketplace where items are designed with both beauty and social consciousness in mind. This is a global movement!

Macy’s sent me a couple of bracelets from Maiden Nation, to help me write this post. Take a look! SONY DSC

If you must purchase a gift this Mother’s Day, please consider Maiden Nation. You’ll be helping another woman, quite possibly another Mom, make her dream a reality. Now that’s something to celebrate! Happy Mother’s Day to all the Moms out there! May you have the best day ever!

** This is NOT a sponsored post, I was not paid to write it- I did receive the bracelets above, to help facilitate the post. Thank you! **
