Have you visited NickMom.com lately? It’s a great website for Moms like me (and maybe you!), you know, Moms that don’t take themselves too seriously. NickMom gets that we’re not all “That” mom… the “perfect” mother, the one that never makes mistakes… yeah, her! I’m SO not “That” mom, that it’s hilarious!
Don’t get me wrong, I love my kids with all my heart- and would do anything for them (as my youngest always grills me about every other night…”Mom, would you eat dirty cat litter?” What?! “No way!” I respond. “What if it would save my life?” he asks. “Oh, well, then yeah, of course I would!”) I’m not the “prim & proper” mom … I’m the mom that isn’t afraid to burp out LOUD! (Hey, we all do it, right? Some just do it better than others!) I mean I know how to behave out in public when I have to… but when I’m at home, I’m pretty chill. (Yes, I have burped a portion of the alphabet out loud before, no biggie!)
I enjoy a good laugh, and I’m not afraid to laugh at myself. Heck, I’m pretty dang funny, I crack myself up All.The.Time. That’s why I enjoy the NickMom.com website so much. Their #MotherFunny section always makes me laugh. They have all kinds of articles, talking about and spoofing a variety of different topics that us “hip” moms can relate to. One such article was relating to shoes and what they say about us. I thought I’d take a look at a few of my favorite pairs of shoes and see what message I’m sending the world when I wear them. Let’s take a look!
First up, are my red Borns:
My Borns say that I’m not afraid of bright, bold, colors! I’m a Mary Jane kinda gal, (No, not THAT Mary Jane!) The stepped on heel also says these shoes are cute, but they hurt my feet… even so, I’m STILL gonna wear them ’cause they were too expensive to throw out! Just keepin’ it real!
Next: My bejeweled flip-flop sandals. 
These shoes say, “Woo-Hoo, look at me, I just got my toes did!” These are the shoes I wear right after I’ve shelled out good money for a pedi. Self-explanatory!
Here we have my Earth shoes! 
These shoes say I’m a Grown-*ss Woman & I don’t always have to wear shoes that are “cute.” Sometimes it’s about comfort, and shoes that are actually good for your feet. They also say Fall is here and it’s time to put the flip-flops away ladies! (Yeah, I’m talkin’ to YOU!) And for the record, I think these shoes are extremely cute, in a grown & sexy kinda way!
Let’s take a look at my workout shoes! 
These shoes say if I made the effort to get my butt to the gym, then by golly, I want all y’all to know about it! “Look at me, Look at me, I’m working out! See me on the treadmill?!” (You can’t miss me in these bad-boys!) They also say I love ALL the colors!
This next pair ain’t pretty, but I still love ’em! 
These are my Wanna-be Crocs! No name Crocs, I like to call them. These are the shoes I wear when I’m out in the yard, tending to my garden or just getting the mail. They are a couple sizes too big on me… ugly, dirty, but they help me get the job done. (They also say I’m too cheap to spring for real Crocs!) It’s true!
Last, but not least, are my Cat shoes!
Y’all ain’t never seen anything like these beauties! Have you?! These shoes say I’m one bad MotherFunny! It takes a special kinda person to slip their tootsies into these felines, and I’m just that Mother! These shoes say a number of things about me. I love cats, I dance to the beat of a different drummer, I’m not afraid to be different, and most importantly… I don’t care what anybody says, I’m gonna be ME!
