I heard about this case, in Houston, TX, last week. It’s been on my mind ever since. Apparently, the terms of this man’s child support were modified without his knowledge, as were his visitation times.
Due to his employer’s negligence, he was behind on his child support payments. When he discovered he was behind- he made sure to get all caught up. That’s a good thing, right?! I mean in a day & age where single mothers are struggling… and (some) babies daddies run from their responsibilities… getting all caught up on your child support is a good thing, right? Visiting your child, spending time with them, that’s a good thing too, right?
So why has this father been sentenced to 6 months in jail? I don’t get it… what’s REALLY going on here? TEXAS, what’s up?
Here’s the video- I’m still shaking my head, just doesn’t make sense. Here’s a man doing the RIGHT thing, paying his child support- spending time with his child- and he’s being penalized for it?
Not cool TEXAS, not cool!
