This is a sponsored post, in collaboration with McDonalds & the Mom It Forward Blogger Network. All opinions are my own.
Did you know McDonald’s is one of the largest purchasers of apples in the restaurant industry? I didn’t. In 2012, they purchased 90 million pounds of raw apples. (90 MILLION!) They’ve actually sold 1.1 billion packages of apple slices since March 2012. That’s a lot of apples.
There have been 530 million individual packages of apple slices served with a children’s meal between Aug. 1, 2012 and July 31, 2013.
I’ve been invited to tour a facility that processes some of the apples McDonald’s serves their customers. Tomorrow, I will see firsthand, what goes on in the processing plant and share my findings with all of you.
Some of you may be asking yourselves why I’d want to go on this tour. The answer is simple: I want to know where the food I eat comes from. I want to see how it’s taken care of before it gets to me. I do eat McDonald’s food, not every day, but yes, I eat it. I’m a fan of their wraps & their smoothies.
I also enjoy their Mocha Frappes, especially when it’s hot out. I eat their food, so it will be nice to see where that food comes from. This is a chance for me to see, with my own eyes, exactly how some of their food goes from farm to plate. It’s also a chance for me to ask them some questions-and get some answers.
After my tour, I’ll be posting pics and any & all info I learned. Stay tuned for more!
