This year marks the 10th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. Did you know that Katrina led to 5,000 reported missing children and it took seven months to connect the last child with her parents? I cannot imagine how terrified both the parents & the children must have been during that time. Hurricane Katrina was one of the worst natural disasters ever, I remember watching the news reports on TV and just praying for everyone involved-it was heartbreaking.
Communication is often difficult during emergencies. Electricity may be out, cell phone towers could go down and local systems may be overwhelmed making it difficult to reach those you love most. Make sure you have a plan to stay connected with your family.
