Top 5
When it comes to traveling, be it by car, plane, or train… I’ve learned a few things over the years. Whether I’m traveling with the kids in tow or solo-many of the same rules apply. There are a few things I simply cannot leave the house without.
1) I MUST have comfy shoes… if my feet ain’t happy-ain’t nobody happy! How am I going to explore & sight-see if my feet hurt?! My faves? Tieks! These shoes are so comfy, I forget I’m wearing them- it’s like they become part of my body… I LOVE them! You won’t find me traveling in heels… ever! That might work for some, but not me- give me a pair of Tieks flats any day of the week. They come in all different colors-they’re handmade in Italy-and they fold up for easing packing!
2) Sun Shades! I will turn the car around & go back home if I forget my sun shades, no lie. I need my shades … not only to protect my eyes (too much sun exposure can cause cataracts, did you know that?), but also to hide behind. My eyes might be puffy from getting up too early or a restless night & my shades are a great way to conceal whatever I don’t want others to see…plus I look COOL! *wink-wink* I love my Ted Baker B502 – EBONY (EBO) … they look a lot like this pair (affiliate link):
3) Band-Aids! It never fails, esp when traveling with kids… sooner or later someone is gonna get a boo-boo. My little guy is always running at full speed, jumping over obstacles & getting all scratched up. I usually carry a box of band-aids in my luggage & another in my purse, along with Tylenol for pain, tissues & wipes for nose bleeds, sticky fingers & runny noses! And snacks, can’t forget snacks! Yep, gotta be prepared for anything!
4) Phone Charger! I think this one goes without saying, but I went ahead & added it anyways. I need a charger for my phone, the kid’s tablets, etc. I charge everything up before we leave home, and throw my charger in my purse so I have it with me at all times. Nothing worse than a dead phone, especially when you use it to take photos. Don’t be that person asking folks if you can borrow their charger, pack your own & don’t worry about it. (full disclosure-I’ve been that person asking to borrow chargers, it’s not fun.) Here’s my Lepow POKI Portable External Battery Pack and Power Bank 10,000 mAh – Compatible with Apple iPhone, Apple iPad, Samsung and Other Smart Devices (Mint Green), it keeps all my tech devices fully juiced and the color makes it easy to find in my purse. 5) Beauty products! Sensitive skin runs in the family, so I like to take my own soap that way I don’t have to worry about anyone breaking out in a rash after they shower. Before I travel, I head over to Walmart, (I love their everyday low prices!) and pick up the essentials I need. That means Olay Ultra Moisture Beauty Bars. They’re made with Shea Butter & have a creamy moisturizing lather the whole family appreciates. It doesn’t leave my skin feeling tight & dry, versus regular soap. When I’m traveling, I keep my makeup simple, especially on the plane. I use CoverGirl Perfect Point Plus Eyeliner Pencil on my eyes… it’s self-sharpening & glides on easy (you don’t want to be tugging on the delicate skin around your eyes- no bueno) & CoverGirl CG Smoothers Pressed Powder… my skin tends to get really oily while flying (gross, I know!), so I like using CG Smoothers because it’s made with Chamomile, & helps minimize the appearance of ‘imperfections’ (who ME?!) to give me a finished look that really lasts!
