Summer time … finally! After a really rough winter, some parts of the U.S. suffered for months with freezing temps & blizzard-like conditions, summer is officially here. Thinking back to my own childhood, there was something almost magical about the summer. Back then, life was simple-no worries, no stress – just endless hours spent outside playing in the sun. I remember swinging on the swings, doing cartwheels in the yard, and playing on the slip-n-slide. I also remember how excited I’d get when my Mom offered me a frozen treat!
These days, summer is still magical-but for different reasons. Now I’m the Mom, and I love seeing my little one’s face light up when I put a package of Bomb Pops in our shopping cart at Safeway!
Who can blame him for getting excited? There’s only one original Bomb Pop: that iconic rocket shape and red, white & blue color is enough to get anyone hyped up! It’s like getting three treats in one, with three different flavors: cherry, lime & blue raspberry! Which is your favorite flavor? It’s a tie for me between cherry and raspberry. There’s something about cooling off on a blistering hot day with a Bomb Pop-it just feels right, doesn’t it? Like for those few minutes you’re transported back to another time, at least I am! Bomb Pops are a way for me to connect with my kids. When we’re outside, enjoying ourselves, running around and working up a sweat … we can’t wait to raid the freezer and bust out the Bomb Pops! I like to share stories of my childhood with them, (Yes, Mommy was once a little girl) they enjoy hearing about the things I used to do when I was a kid.
I don’t ever want to stop making memories with my kids, but I’m not naive … I know there will come a day when they are all grown up, with families of their own. Until then, I want to have as many fun-filled experiences with them as I possibly can. I don’t mind being silly with them, and if they want to have 2 or 3 Bomb Pops before dinner … well that’s all right too!
