I’m surrounded by Muslims and I’m not scared.
I’ve lived in NorCal for over 5 years. There are several (SEVERAL) mosques within a few miles of my home. I have Muslim neighbors, my kids have Muslim friends. I interact with Muslims every day.
I’ve been inside a mosque, to cover a blood drive organized by the Muslim community. In the years we’ve been here, our city has NEVER had any ‘problems’ with the Muslim residents. None, zero! I can’t recall any ‘problems’ at all caused by Muslims here in the SF Bay Area. My children have never had any issues with Muslims at their school. I have never felt threatened, or in danger living amongst Muslims.
What Donald Trump is proposing (the banning of all Muslims from the US) is insane! Muslim does not equate Radical Jihadist. Period.
I can say the same for Hindus, Buddhists & Sihks, they are ALL my neighbors & friends. We ALL coexist in harmony-no problems or issues in over 5 years! I’m so thankful I live where I do. I’m thankful my children have friends of so many different nationalities & ethnicities. I’m thankful I’ve been entrusted with living amongst people that are different, yet in so many ways the same, as me & my family.
What I have seen in my years here is hatred & prejudice against these same people. I’ve seen Sihks being attacked solely because of the turbans on their heads. Unprovoked attacks on Sihks by Americans, that’s what I’ve seen.
I’m grateful that I can share my experiences with others, I know many of you have probably never met a Muslim or Sihk, or stepped foot inside a mosque. I’m blessed to live among so many loving, caring, giving people & I will not sit back & allow others to bash them without speaking up.
