#BeautifullyBilingual – From the Community, For the Community {Xfinity/Comcast}

December 22, 2016

This is a sponsored conversation in partnership with Xfinity/Comcast. All opinions are mine.

Last week, during one of the worst rainstorms the SF Bay Area has seen in recent history, I was warm & cozy inside the Xfinity store on Geary Blvd, in San Francisco. I was there with 5 local bloggers to attend the #BeautifullyBilingual Lunch & Learn event. And boy did I learn!

Maybe you’ve seen the commercial associated with the launch of the #BeautifullyBilingual campaign here in Northern California, it’s one of my favorites right now.

Full disclosure: I’m a very happy & satisfied Comcast customer, so I already knew a thing or two about Xfinity X1, the future of television.

Here are a few reasons why I was a fan BEFORE the Lunch & Learn event:

X1 offers service on my terms with customer service in English or Spanish, apps in English or Spanish, and website experience in English or Spanish. (This is so freakin’ awesome! I love that Comcast values their Latino customers. Multicultural communication is vital in today’s world.)

X1 is easy to use. Switching from English to Spanish (even Spanglish, Eso!), is simple and easy. X1 remembers the last 9 shows or channels I watched. The X1 Voice Remote will respond to my voice; can’t remember the channel, just tell X1 what you want to watch, you can even ask it to recommend shows to watch. The remote is everything!

X1 customers can stay connected wherever they go & take our entertainment with us, by downloading movies & programs onto tablets, iPads & iPhones.

Forgot to set your DVR? Use the X1 app and do it from anywhere! (No more missed episodes of Empire)

With Xfinity Latino, there are literally THOUSANDS of choices to watch online, & 80 networks available for live streaming anywhere. (Can you say Novelas?!)

Kid Zone – YES! This is one of my favorite things about X1 & has changed the way my little watches TV. Kid Zone is a safe place for him to explore (all on his own) kid’s content & find all the (safe) shows that he loves. He just says “KID ZONE” into the X1 Voice Remote and X1 does the rest!

Those are some of the things I knew… here are some of the things I didn’t know:

The Integrated Xfinity apps allow me to follow my favorite teams (💙🏀💛) while watching another show. I can bring my Facebook feed or photos up on the big screen, play my Pandora playlist, check the weather & more!

X1 DVR with Cloud technology allows me to stream DVR recordings and live TV on my mobile devices – so I can set up a second screen for my little guy!

Since combining the TV libraries of Netflix & Xfinity On Demand; X1 customers like me are now able to launch the Netflix app by saying “Netflix” into the X1 Voice Remote!

Xfinity/Comcast kicks butt & has changed the way we watch TV. They are constantly improving, for example:

Kid Zone will be getting new STEM programs in 2017:

Kids Central-an English language network featuring age-appropriate programs with high educational value that appeals to bicultural Hispanics (like me & my familia) ages 3-7.

Primo TV will appeal to bicultural Hispanic viewers ages 6-16. Yay & Wepa!

All of these things are amazing & I love them, but they just scratch the surface of what Xfinity/Comcast are doing for the Latino community- and everyone really! Beyond TV programming- Comcast won me over with everything they’re doing for the community, our community, you & me! As I listened to members of the Xfinity/Comcast team speak, I realized they’re like a family. They’re passionate about their jobs & the work their company is putting in behind the scenes, like their Youth Tech Expo held every year. I was so impressed with their Internet Essentials program, which provides computer access, & wi-fi to low income families (for a small fee), so their kids don’t get left behind in this age of digital everything. Digital literacy is key to a successful education. Comcast gets that & I applaud their efforts to make internet access available to everyone, para todos! Go to InternetEssentials.comto see if you, or someone you know qualifies.

I’ll be back in the new year to share even more of their community programs with you & in-depth interviews. (Yes, THAT’S how much they do for our community- my mind was blown). When a brand is going above & beyond for their community- I believe that needs to be recognized & I intend to do just that.
