When you picture a trip to Europe; you may have envisioned wine in Italy, or a romantic view from your hotel’s balcony. However, if you are considering taking a trip to Europe as a family; there are many great cities you can visit that are kid friendly too. If you want to have a real European experience while traveling abroad, here are five kid-friendly cities to visit. We’ve been to two of them, the remaining ones top our bucket list.
Amsterdam
Amsterdam is a great place to go on your next family-friendly adventure. There are many sights and photo opportunities your family can enjoy. Plus, there are lots of kid-friendly options for food and entertainment as well. Be sure to snap some pics in an oversized Dutch clog, and enjoy a paddle boat ride. (Beware of the well known “red-light” district though, or you’ll have lots of ‘splaining to do!)
Paris
Paris isn’t just for romance! There are plenty of things for everyone to experience throughout the entire year. Your kids will love visiting the boulangeries, flower shops and sidewalk cafes. The Metro is easy to navigate, so that’s a big plus. In case seeing the Eiffel Tower hasn’t sold you yet, take in the sights of the city and enjoy breathtaking parks and palaces. We visited Paris when our oldest was eight years old. I want to revisit again with our youngest.
London
The home of Paddington, Peter Rabbit, Harry Potter, and Mary Poppins, how could you not take your kids?! From getting to see real-life royalty, to enjoying the sights and museums, there are tons of family-friendly options to experience in London. This one is on our list for sure!
Rome
From gladiators to delicious gelato, who wouldn’t want to take their family to Italy? You can visit the Colosseum, the Vatican, the Sistine Chapel, Trevi Fountain and so many other sights. Enjoy a nice bowl of gelato in a piazza, and take in the breathtaking city. If views are what you desire, you don’t want to miss the opportunity to take your kids to Rome.
Barcelona
Your kids will think they’ve entered a Dr. Seuss book when they see this gorgeous city. The works of famous architect, Antoni Gaudi, are located throughout the city, and the experiences are something out of a fairytale. While you’re there, you must take a stroll by the sea and enjoy a homemade tapa or two or three! Take in the Spanish culture, and explore the wonders Spain has to offer. We visited Spain recently and I’m ready to go back! Our son thoroughly enjoyed himself. Here he is talking a selfie at Park Guell.
Just because you have kids, doesn’t mean you have to stop traveling. These five kid-friendly cities are the perfect destinations to explore the world with your family.
