This is a sponsored conversation, in collaboration, with Skylawn Memorial Park. All opinions are mine.
When I first started writing about death, dying, and funerals; I did so because I wanted to help people. That hasn’t changed. I read about loss of life every day. Writing about Skylawn Memorial Park has been a way for me to discuss a topic so many of us avoid.

I realize these discussions may make you feel uneasy. That’s ok. I’m trying to normalize talking about tough subjects. Why? Because we need to be more educated, so we can make decisions that are right for ourselves and our families.
I recently saw a wife talking about the sudden loss of her husband. His death was unexpected. There were questions she wished she’d asked him, while he was still alive. I want to share those with you now.
The Tough Questions
1. Casket burial or cremation? Do you know what your spouse/partner wants?
2. If cremation, what do you want your cremains in? Where do you want your cremains stored? (Cremains: a person’s cremated remains.)
3. What do you want your funeral to look like? This poor wife had no idea what her husband wanted his funeral to look like. They’d never talked about it.
4. How do you want special days (birthdays, anniversary of death) celebrated?
5. Do you want keepsakes made for anyone? If so, who, and what do you have in mind?
Imagine just losing your spouse, and trying to answer these questions yourself. Then imagine your partner didn’t have pre-planned funeral arrangements. Not only are you overcome with grief, but now you’re left planning (and paying for) a funeral, and trying to figure out what your loved one would’ve wanted.
No one should have to deal with all that extra stress. Please sit down with your loved ones today, and ask them the tough questions. Then visit Skylawn Memorial Park online, and request their FREE funeral planning guide. Let the caring folks at Skylawn assist you.
