This is a new series I’m adding to my blog. It’s called, “You Ever Notice?”
I’ve been out of the blogging game for a bit, but I’m returning full of ideas and ready to write. Let’s start with: You Ever Notice All the California Hate?
Why all the California hate?! It cracks me up every time I see someone hating on California. It’s usually someone who lives in another state, who’s never lived in California, and many times, has never even visited California! They know nothing about California, but they swear they are the authority on all things CA. They claim to know everything about the schools, politics, crime, people, beaches, homeless, food, housing, and economy. It’s hilarious!
I’ve lived in California for 16 years. The things I read about California, being posted to social media, are ridiculous.
I don’t even bother responding to these insane posts anymore. The authors are usually know-it-alls, who wouldn’t listen to me anyways. You know the type: still live in the same city or state they were born in, never venture outside of their zip code, never travel anywhere, swear they know better than everyone else … about all things!
These are the same folks giving marriage advice, but have never been married. They give parenting advice, but have no kids. They seriously think they are qualified to give advice because they “read a lot ” or watch a lot of shows on the subject, or better yet: “they listen to all the podcasts!” They’re active on social media and “know what’s going on.” They think they understand a topic better than you, even though you are LIVING the topic! Yeah, we all know the type.
What is it about California that the haters love to hate? We have gorgeous beaches, amazing weather, we genuinely care about our fellow man, we are tolerant of those who are different, we care about our planet, we help each other out, we aren’t afraid to speak our mind, we enjoy life to its fullest, we work hard and play hard, we embrace diversity, we learn from each other, we are a melting pot, we celebrate our differences, and we march to the beat of our own drum. Beauty is all around us. We are creative, innovative, and resourceful.
I can see why others would be jealous of us! But hate us?! That’s a bit much. It reminds me of that saying, “They hate us, cuz they ain’t us!” LOL!
I’ve lived in Texas, Alaska, Hawaii, Arizona, and California. I can say without a doubt, I feel safer in California than I do in Texas. Period. Way less crime here. But if I say that to someone in TX, they try to debate me and say there’s more crime here in California. LOL! I just told you, I’ve lived in both states, I’m speaking from experience. They don’t listen, they just go on and on, speaking on topics they have no firsthand knowledge about. What is that? What makes folks that way? Is it a closed mind? Is it narcissism? Denial? I’m not sure, but it’s quite amusing to watch.
Anyway, if you’ve never lived in California, please don’t bash it. You have no idea what you’re talking about, and it makes you look ignorant.
California is a beautiful state, with beautiful people.
