Have you ever noticed how some folks just crave power?! Like it doesn’t even matter what type of “power,” they just want to be in complete and total control of something, anything.
I’m in this group, and there’s a guy there who insists on doing everything himself. Then he complains that no one else helps out, and he does all the work.
He throws it up to everyone’s face every chance he gets. It’s a broken record.
Funny thing is, he refuses to give up any of those duties. “We need such and such done, and I’ll handle it . . . I’m gonna speak to the guys over at XYZ and let you all know what they said . . . Spoke to the contractor today, he said blah, blah, blah.” Like dude, if you want help with stuff, just ask! Better yet, delegate!
But he doesn’t truly want help. He WANTS to be in control. He WANTS to do it all by himself. He WANTS to make all the executive decisions. He WANTS everyone to answer to him. Period. He craves power.
Do you know someone like that? Then when something pops up, he says the same things over and over, “I do so much here, no one ever volunteers to help out. I do everything. Everyone else is full of excuses.”
Nope, that’s not it. You refuse to relinquish any of the jobs to anyone else. You want full control. You want to be able to brag about doing all the work! You’re POWER HUNGRY!
This same person can’t stand for anyone to question them, or speak up for themselves. We’re just supposed to sit back and let the King do his thing. Well, I for one ain’t putting up with that. And rude? He can be extremely rude and ugly when someone dares to question something he’s done. He starts name calling and using profanity. This is especially true if the person is from another country. I think he feels he’s better than others because he’s a White man, born in the USA. His privilege has him believing he should be in charge of everything. We all know the type. Just a good, ole boy – doing what good, ole boys do. Or at least trying to.
I call him out every chance I get. Yet he still tries it. It’s ok though. No way I’m gonna let him (or anyone else) try to intimidate me. My Latina mama raised me better than that. I see him for who he is.
I’ve gone up against bullies before. Old, white men don’t scare me. I’m the descendant of one.
