California Wine Club Review – Robledo Family Winery {Sauvignon Blanc & Tempranillo}

November 13, 2012

Hello everyone! I am super excited to be working with The California Wine Club once again! (www.cawineclub.com) I had a blast reviewing their delicious wines last time around and this time it’s even sweeter. Why, you ask?! Well, this time I get to offer a $50 California Wine Club GC to one lucky winner! Woo-Hoo! That giveaway will run next month, after I review their December wines.

Let me refresh your memory about the California Wine Club’s Premier Club.

“Our Premier Club is a great way to learn about wine and the California wine scene, perfect for the wine novice or aficionado. Just $49.95* per month includes shipping and handling. *Plus sales tax where applicable.

Exciting Wine Of The Month Club Deliveries Include:
Each wine club shipment includes two bottles of award-winning wine and our detailed and beautiful 12-page, full color publication, Uncorked.Uncorked offers an up-close and personal look at the family behind the wines plus tasting notes, recipes, wine luminary interviews, games and so much more.”

The Premier Club has proved very helpful for a novice like me. I am also learning a lot about wines by following California Wine Club on Twitter. I follow them on FB too.

Now let’s get to the good stuff, shall we?! Both wines I received were from Robledo Family Winery, out of Kelseyville, CA. Mr. Reynldo Robledo came to California in 1968, and worked in the vineyards as a migrant worker. He earned $1.10 per day. He now has his own winery! What an inspirational story. The first wine sampled was a 2009 Napa Valley Tempranillo. Tempranillos are black grapes native to Spain. They produce full bodied red wines, with hints of plum, berries and vanilla. This wine was spectacular. Very flavorful! We enjoyed it with a nice meal of pasta.

The second offering from Robledo Family Winery was a 2008 Lake County Sauvignon Blanc. This wine is a Bronze Medal Winner at the 2011 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition. As we poured it, we could pick up on the aromas of Honeysuckle and Mango. We enjoyed this wine with a Tuna Salad.

With Christmas right around the corner, I’m thinking there are quite a few folks on my list that would love to find a bottle of wine in their Christmas stocking. I’m sure you know a few too! California Wine Club can take care of all the wine lovers on your list. There are no fees to join and you can cancel anytime! Simplify your holiday shopping and make those you love happy on Christmas morning! As always, please drink responsibly!

I will be receiving my December shipment soon, and along with it- my Giveaway, so stay tuned!
