As you all know, I recently attended the Food Blogger’s Festival in San Francisco, CA. CookSF.com (also known as Cook! Real Simple Delicious), was one of the company’s I was impressed with. Created by Nona Lim, a native of Singapore; it is California’s first gluten & dairy free food delivery service. How awesome is that?! The meals are fresh, natural, low-glycemic and amazingly delicious! Most of their ingredients are organic and local.

Cook! offers a line of detox & maintenance meals, which I would love to try. They are delivered right to your door- that’s my kind of service! They also make soups…wonderful soups! While attending the festival, I had a chance to sample their Thai Green Curry Soup. It was fantastic! Made with chunky veggies including cauliflower, mushrooms, eggplant, carrots, and bell peppers, it was a great example of comfort food. Cook! makes the curry paste from scratch with fresh lemongrass, shallots, cilantro, ginger and lots of spices. After finishing up that sample, I knew I wanted to learn more about this company.

I was sent three soups to sample: Red Lentil Veggie, Zucchini and All-Bean Chili. (I had wanted to try their carrot Ginger, but they were all sold out of it!). I waited until my in-laws visited for Thanksgiving before trying any of them. First up was Zucchini!

I was able to taste it before serving it to my FIL & his wife. I thought it tasted really good, and I’m not really a big Zucchini fan. I wondered if my in-laws would feel the same. I paired the soup with grilled ham & cheese sandwiches. They LOVED it! They could not get over how wonderful it was! They talked about that soup all night! I was so happy! (I wished I had more soup to offer them, as they both practically inhaled it!) Here are the ingredients in the Zucchini Soup: Vegetable broth (water, carrots, onions, celery, garlic, herbs and spices), zucchini, non-GMO corn, poblano chile, onions, rice milk, olive oil, garlic, herbs and spices, kosher salt and pepper. I love that they are using non-GMO corn…did you know most corn in the US is filled with GMO’s? I didn’t until recently. First soup was a big hit! Yay! And don’t let the Poblano Chile scare you away, not hot at all!

Next up, we have the All-Bean Chili. I ate this one all by myself and it was delicious! Very hearty & filling, but not too filling… I wasn’t stuffed after I finished it. The ingredients are: Water, black beans, pinto beans, lima beans, onions, diced tomatoes (tomatoes and tomato juice, sea salt, naturally derived citric acid, and calcium chloride), olive oil, tomato paste (tomatoes and citric acid), garlic, spices, kosher salt, and pepper. I could also detect, what I believe, was Cilantro in it. SONY DSC

Look at those beans! I wanted more, but alas, I had to be satisfied with what I had.

The last soup was eaten by a family member who wishes to remain nameless. I was not able to try it, or photograph it. From what I hear, Red Lentil Veggie Soup is “Yummy!” Next time, I will place a “Do Not Eat” sticky, on foods I need to review!

I am now a huge fan of this company and love that they are using whole, fresh and pure ingredients. No gluten, dairy, preservatives, additives, trans fats, or high fructose corn syrup. Even the packaging the soup comes in is BPA-Free! These soups are so much more healthier for you than the pre-packaged stuff you find at the supermarket. Right now, you can find these soups in SF Bay Area stores, such as Whole Foods. I have no doubt, these soups will one day be available nation-wide, they are that good! These soups are just what the doctor ordered for those with food allergies… and for those of us without food allergies! (I’m working on doing a Giveaway in the future!).

Follow Cook! on FB, and let them know I sent you! You may order Cook! Detox/Maintenance meals here, or give them a call at 415-513-5328. I want to thank Cook! for sending me the soups to try for this review-you have a stellar product and it was a pleasure working with you! (Send more soup!) 😉
