Disclosure: I have not read any police reports, medical records, CPS/CFS records or Coroner’s reports. I am simply the messenger, and relaying the information given to me by the mother of Cam, AJ & Haven.
This is an update to the story I posted back in February 2014, re 2 little boys (Cam & AJ), that were removed from their parent’s custody (by SoCal CPS/CFS), due to the sudden death of their infant sister, Haven. To get caught up, please read my original post here. 
I’m going to warn you, this update will both sadden & upset you. I know it did me. I had a chance to catch up with Cam & AJ’s Mom recently, and the things she told me blew my mind! I can’t believe this sort of thing is happening, right here in the good ole USA… but it is, and we all need to be made aware of it. Here’s what Cam & AJ’s Mom had to say.
Mommy Powers: What’s been going on since my last update?
Cam & AJ’s Mom: I don’t know if you want to update your readers with bad news, but the judge found all the allegations (of child abuse) true, except that we killed our baby (the diagnosis for her death was SIDS – but the cause of death was undetermined). Despite the fact that 5 different Doctors, including CFS’s own Doctor, saying that the injuries were NOT consistent with abuse, and that they could not say for sure abuse even took place. They have placed my now 10 year old with his absentee father (which at least I can fight for him now in family court). As for my now 2 year old, they are trying to terminate our parental rights so they can adopt him out. Our lawyers are in the process of going through all the transcripts, all the way back to day one, to see if there’s a reason we can use to appeal.
Mommy Powers: WHAT?! This is unbelievable! Five doctors are saying the past injuries are NOT consistent with abuse… even one of CPS/CFS own doctors... and yet they are STILL keeping you from your kids? How does this happen in the United States of America? They’re talking about terminating your parental rights? All of this started because your infant daughter, Haven, died suddenly & CPS/CFS decided to investigate & see if any foul play (abuse) had taken place to cause her death. So, when it was determined that Haven died from SIDS, I don’t understand why this wasn’t all dropped. I’m stunned, angry, & confused. This isn’t supposed to happen in the U.S.! Were the kids asked if they were being abused? Surely a 10 year old can speak up for himself and let the authorities know what’s happening, right?
Cam & AJ’s Mom: Yes, they interviewed Cameren, who told them we don’t even spank them. But from what I’ve researched and gathered from other parents, they (CPS/CFS) only believes the kids if they say they are being abused. If they say they aren’t, then they are just covering for the parent. They also did not allow Cam to come to court to testify, which my lawyer asked for. All of the Doctors, except for theirs, said we don’t fit the typical abusive parents profile, that our kids don’t behave like abused children. But none of that mattered.
Mommy Powers: This just doesn’t sound right, they should believe the children, whether they say their parents abused them or didn’t abuse them. If you’re not going to believe them when they say they weren’t abused-then don’t believe them when they say they were abused. You can’t have it both ways. I’m at a loss for words, I can’t believe this nightmare is still continuing for you & your family!
Cam & AJ’s Mom: This is my point exactly. I want to start a petition that says the records and the court cases be public record, just like any other case (with the exception of the kids names. Like maybe black that it out and insert the word Minor). But as long as they are able to keep everything confidential, they’ll be able to keep doing this to people, because how do we prove otherwise? I wouldn’t find anything out until we were in the courtroom. But that’s what they hide behind. It has to change!! And I think that’s what my mission is going to focus on. If we can make it so everybody could see what they are doing, then they would be forced to stop doing whatever they want!
Mommy Powers: Thank you for updating me, I wish the news was better-but I know you love your children & will do everything in your power to reunite your family. Keep me in the loop, I know you’ve been in contact with other parents that share similar stories of having their kids wrongfully removed from their homes, my heart goes out to all of you. I know CPS/CFS have their hands full and are understaffed & overworked- but I really hope they take another look at your case. Your baby died from SIDS, your 10 year old is saying there is no abuse, the doctors said you do not fit the profile of an abuser and any old injuries the kids had were NOT consistent with abuse. That’s got to count for something, doesn’t it?!
