Detroit Michigan Offers Diverse Dining Choices {Guest Post}

January 29, 2015

My first guest post, and it’s none other than my blogging buddy, The Kitty Bradshaw (KittyBradshaw.com), thanks, Kitty! Hope y’all enjoy what she has to say.

Detroit and my taste buds collided during a recent trip to the “Comeback City” that was filled with adventure, and of course, food!  Prior to my arrival, I both researched and asked friends that are native to Detroit, what their favorite eating locations were and I was pleasantly surprised at what they came up with.  In all honesty, I didn’t picture Detroit as a destination that was diverse in their restaurant culture.  For example, I am a huge fan of Middle Eastern food, and have been to major cities where that category was not represented at all.  Say yes to Greek Town, because I almost OD’d on Stuffed Grape Leaves and Filo Dough (Don’t Judge lol).  Today, we are going to discuss three of the many restaurants I visited during my trip.

My time in Detroit was spent with my friend Michelle during her birthday weekend.  We decided upon Brazilian food at Texas de Brazil, which did not disappoint.  From the Brazilian caipirinha drinks to the endless rotation of meat being delivered to our table, it was both a feast and trip defining experience.  My personal favorite portion of meat was the Lamb Chops, WOW!!!  There was an assortment of various cuts of beef, chicken, and sausage brought out to the table.

Three words: Red Velvet Pancakes! Hudson Cafés reputation proceeded them.  The word on the Detroit streets was to try the pancakes or else!  Our group shared a plate of pancakes that delivered me into foodie oblivion.  Between the three of us, we had the corn beef hash, eggs, bacon, and an omelet. The Hudson Café is guaranteed to fulfill all your breakfast needs.

Al Ameer serves up fresh Lebanese food. This family owned restaurant has been serving the community since 1989.  Sticking with the previous breakfast trend, Al Ameer serves authentic Mediterranean breakfast in addition to the lunch and dinner staples such as kabobs, humus, and stuffed grape leaves, to name a few.

The restaurants mentioned in this post are just the tip of the iceberg.  There are so many Detroit establishments to choose from spanning across the globe.  When visiting Detroit be sure to ask a local what their personal favorite is; they might lead you to somewhere unexpected and gratifying.
