I love a good foodie event & there’s a great one coming up this Saturday!
Macy’s Union Square is my all-time fave spot for shopping and they always host fab events, like this one I attended a while back. This Saturday, March 28th, they’ll be hosting Chef Nancy Silverton. Nancy is a Big-Time Chef… she’s been named Food and Wine Magazine’s “Best New Chef”, in addition to “Pastry Chef of the Year”, “Who’s Who of Cooking” and “Outstanding Restaurant” for Campanile by the James Beard Foundation. Bon Appetit also awarded her Best of Food & Entertaining, “Food Artisan” as well. Most recently, she received the highest honor given by the James Beard Foundation for “Outstanding Chef” as well as listed as one of the Most Innovative Women in Food and Drink by Fortune and Food and Wine Magazine. Whew! That’s a lot of accolades. But there’s more: author of 8 cookbooks, Co-Owner of several restaurants including La Brea Bakery, she’s served as a member of the Macy’s Culinary Council since 2003, has been a major supporter in the Garden School Foundation in Los Angeles, and is active in fundraising for numerous charities, most notably Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation in Philadelphia, New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago.
On March 28th, Chef Silverton will be hosting a cooking demo (that means there’ll be lots of food to sample!) She’ll be sharing recipes inspired by the Macy’s Flower Show. The Ferry Plaza Farmers Market, a tri-weekly California Certified Farmers Market operated by CUESA, will provide some of the produce and ingredients for the demonstration… so I know everything is going to taste fantastic!
I did mention samples, right?!
As if that weren’t reason enough to attend, with any purchase of $35 or more in the Home Department,* you’ll receive a $10 Macy’s gift card and a copy of either The Mozza Cookbook or A Twist of the Wrist,** which she will sign directly after the demo. (You might even get to snap a selfie with her!)
Will I see you there?!
