Have you ever met someone famous & been totally blown away by it? I remember meeting Arnold Schwarzenegger when I was in 6th grade. He was appearing at a mall opening & my Mom took us, in hopes that we might catch a glimpse of him. Imagine our surprise when we got to pose for photos with him! I’d seen him on TV and knew who he was, but to meet Conan the Barbarian in person? I was floored.
Last week I got to witness the very same thing, only this time it was my son’s turn. We’re huge sports fans, we love our 49ers & Warriors- we’re Bay Area Proud…never miss a game. Roger Craig, future Hall of Famer & 49er Legend, was at Lucky Supermarket in San Bruno for a meet & greet with fans. I grabbed my shopping list, my son hopped in the car, and off we went. Once we got to Lucky’s, my little asked me to take a pic of him next to Roger Craig’s sign. I don’t think it had really set in yet that he was going to meet him in person. My guy was so excited- and I could hardly contain myself- knowing this would be a day he wouldn’t soon forget!
We weren’t alone, in fact, there was quite a line outside. People came from all over the Bay to meet a 49er Legend! Can you blame them? Roger Craig went to four Pro Bowls and won three Super Bowls with the 49ers.
The moment had arrived, Roger Craig walked out and the fans went crazy! There was electricity in the air- everyone was genuinely excited to see him. I looked down at my son and he was just staring at Mr. Craig. I started to worry he may not want to have his photo taken with him-my little guy can be pretty shy. I think Roger sensed that, because he immediately began talking to my son. He complimented him on his choice of headgear (Go Warriors!) and I could see my little man starting to warm up to him. Then Roger Craig did something I wasn’t expecting. Before it was even time to take pics, he invited my son over to have his photo taken with him – which is extremely unusual. After observing Mr. Craig interact with others afterwards, I came to the conclusion that he’s just a super sweet, likable guy! Not only did my little get to meet a future Hall of Famer, but he got to meet & interact with a good human being. Touchdown! As the Mother of a biracial child, it’s important to me that he see people that look like him in a positive light. My Mommy heart is so full!
After meeting Mr. Craig, my little stood on the sidelines (see what I did there?!) and watched him signing autographs for other people. He was really in awe of the former 49er – I can only imagine what was going through his little mind. I couldn’t help but think back to when I met Arnold Schwarzenegger, and I knew this day would stay with him forever.
While I was at Lucky, I made sure to pick up a few of my game-time favorites. Now that the NFL season is in full swing, my home needs to be ready for our game day parties! Cascade & Tide help keep our dishes and clothes (football jerseys) clean and I know I can count on them to get the job done every time. 
It was the perfect time to do a bit of shopping, everyone who spent $30 on P&G products, received a mini pink football (in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month). Thank you, Lucky & P&G! And to you, Mr. Craig, you are a true gentleman-thank you!
