Ahhh, Thanksgiving. We will soon be gathering around the dinner table with family & friends, giving thanks for all that is good in our lives. Chances are there’ll be some turkey involved.
I remember celebrating the holiday as a child. We always went to my Grandparents house in East Texas. My cousins would come over and the usual childhood shenanigans would ensue. We’d play hide & go seek for hours, first outside then inside once it got dark. I loved being with my cousins!
We’d take turns sneaking into the kitchen to see what my Grandmother was cooking. She was an amazing chef and could bake her socks off! Everything in my Maw-Maw’s kitchen was made from scratch. Most (if not all) of the veggies were grown in my grandparents massive garden. How I wish my kids could have tasted her cooking. One thing was always certain, we would eat til our lil bellies were full.
That part hasn’t changed much! Undoubtedly, we will probably eat too much this year too. But what do we do with all the leftover turkey?
