Comcast Xfinity “Moms Own Soccer” Event: From Soccer Fan to Soccer Mom, It’s All Love

June 29, 2018

This is a sponsored conversation, in collaboration with Comcast & #WeAllGrow Latina Network.

Are you guys glued to your TV’s, watching the big soccer games taking place right now? It’s so exciting to watch your favorite teams compete. This year, it’s even better with Xfinity X1! I learned all about how X1 is changing the way we watch soccer at the “Comcast Xfinity: Moms Own Soccer” event a couple weeks ago. I was there with a small group of local Latina bloggers, as Comcast showcased all Xfinity X1 has to offer.

They’ve added lots of high-tech features that make watching the games an interactive experience. From the voice remote that understands voice commands in both English & Spanish, to the ability to look up past soccer games, to seeing current stats displayed on my tv screen, it’s unbelievable! Heck, I can even dvr a game and then only watch the best highlights of that game (cuz, you know; sometimes you just don’t have the tiempo (time) to sit down and watch an entire game!)

Did I mention I can set a reminder so that I never miss another soccer game? That’s right, I’ll be notified when my favorite team is about to play. I can either receive an alert to my mobile app or it’ll appear on my tv screen. Comcast & Xfinity 1 have really thought about everything a true soccer fan might like & included it in their new features!

Speaking of “true fans”, did you know that over 32 million Hispanics tuned into the 2014 soccer games & watched an average of 937 minutes? That equals 80% of Hispanic households. And yes, I’m part of that 32 million! In fact, I can remember being a young child & going over to my Tia’s (Aunt’s) house while she was watching her favorite team (Mexico) play soccer. My Tia Estella would be cheering and yelling at the tv, just going crazy. Watching her get so excited would crack me up! She had a little black & white tv, and the picture wasn’t always clear, but she didn’t care. She would still yell & scream & cheer for her team. That’s what a true fan does.

My Tia would probably pass out if she watched a game with me today. She’d be amazed at all the technological advancements created by Xfinity X1 & Comcast, that make watching the games an even more rewarding experience for the viewers.

Today, I watch soccer games with my own little family. I’m a proud Soccer Mom, our youngest started playing the sport on a rec (recreational) team, when he was just four years old. He is now on a comp (competitive) team and eleven! Watching the games together not only helps him get better at soccer, but it brings us closer as a family. Soccer (and Xfinity X1 & Comcast) helps families create memories, like the ones I have of my Tia Estella.
