As someone who worked in the medical field for over a decade, Medical Cannabis, is a topic of great interest to me & one I will be exploring more. So many of us are living with chronic pain, anxiety, depression, and mood disorders. Whenever we seek treatment to help with them, we are often given drugs and treatment plans that aren’t helpful, and/or make us feel worse. When this happens, we seek out alternative treatments.
Many people are finding that their alternative treatments help to boost their traditional treatment plans. People are finding relief in exercise, diet changes, and yes, medical marijuana (MMJ). But for some people, using medical marijuana presents its own challenges. The high levels of THC can leave some people feeling tired, or prevent them from doing the things they need to accomplish during the course of their day. Does that leave people in need of the relief that medical marijuana can bring out in the cold?
Fortunately, there is an alternative to using medical marijuana that provides the same effects without the high. Cannabidiol, or CBD as it is commonly referred to, brings you all of the healing properties of MMJ, without the THC induced high. There aren’t a lot of scenarios in life where you can have your cake and eat it too, but this is definitely one of them.
What is Cannabidiol?
Before I use something new, I want to know all about it, and I’m sure you’re no different. Cannabidiol is a compound found in marijuana that is available through the processing of the stems and seeds of the hemp and marijuana plants. Because the plant is rich in this compound, it is easily extracted from the plant. Unlike the flower, there is no THC in the stalks of the plant, therefore you get no high from the use of the oils.
How does it work?
When our bodies don’t have the chemicals they need, we start to feel a little out of whack. Did you know that your body actually has receptors in it that marijuana and CBD can stimulate? Using CBD helps to support the endocannabinoid system of the body. The body needs cannabinoids in order to function well, and when this system gets out of balance, your body responds in many different ways. Some people have found that supplementing their cannabinoids with a CBD rich oil helps with the symptoms of many common illnesses.
How can it help me?
If you are suffering from anxiety, PTSD, chronic pain, seizures, and inflammation, CBD has been shown to be highly effective against these illnesses. This is no substitute for traditional medicine, rather CBD oil can be used as an additional support. Unlike MMJ, CBD is available for use and legal in many states where marijuana is not. Be certain to check and make sure your state is one of them.
CBD is giving many people a new lease on life. If you are suffering from any of these chronic conditions and you are at your wit’s end, you owe it to yourself to give CBD oil a chance. It could be the difference between feeling terrible and feeling functional.
