The Great Food Blogger Cookie Swap 2012!

December 11, 2012

I recently participated in the The Great Food Blogger Cookie Swap. It was my first time and I was so excited to be able to take part in it. Not only would I be exchanging cookies with other food bloggers, but I’d be helping out a great cause. This year, the cookie swap partnered with Cookies for Kids’ Cancer to help raise money for cancer research. Each participant in the cookie exchange made a $4 donation to Cookies for Kids’ Cancer, (and considering there were over 600 participants last year)- that’s a lot of money! OXO agreed to match our donations dollar for dollar! OXO also provided all U.S. blogger’s taking part in the exchange, with a Be a Good Cookie Spatula. (Like the one pictured below on their website!) You can purchase your own spatula for just $7.99, and 50% of the proceeds will be donated to cancer research! 240719_10151360361291873_811142091_oHere’s a bit more info on Cookies for Kids’ Cancer & OXO:

I received yummy cookies from three great food bloggers. The first ones to arrive were from Justine, at A Half Baked Life. She sent me some tasty Mocha Cookies and Shortbread Cookies with Basil. I had never eaten cookies made with basil before, very nice. Here they are, pictured below:SONY DSCNext, I received cookies from Sarah, Cooker Girl. These were Espresso Shortbread cookies and our oldest son really liked them!SONY DSCThe final batch that I received were from Susan, at A Less Processed Life. She baked Rosemary Lemon Shortbread Cookies and I was in Heaven! I enjoyed these cookies immensely, and will admit to eating the majority of them! Oopsie!SONY DSC SONY DSCI want to thank Susan, Sarah & Justine for our delicious cookies. We really enjoyed opening up the boxes to see what awaited us inside. Great job, ladies! I had a fantastic time participating in this worthy cause, and look forward to making it a yearly tradition! Special thanks to Lindsay & Taylor, of Love and Olive Oil, and to Julie, of The Little Kitchen, for hosting this awesome event!

Now that y’all have seen what I received, it’s time to tell you what I sent out this year! I chose Cranberry Oatmeal Cookies. I first tried these last year when a friend of mine, (Hi Dora!) from back home, sent me a dozen. I loved them, the family loved them, and I knew everyone else would too. Here’s a pic:SONY DSC

I am sharing the recipe with you, so you can make them yourselves. They are easy-peasy to make. Great cookies to bake if you have littles ones, they can help you add in the ingredients and mix it all up. Let me know if you try them and what you think of them. I know your family will love them!
