I was invited to stay at the Steinhart Hotel to facilitate this review. All opinions are my own and no monetary compensation was received.
I’m a big history buff. I’m fascinated by stories of how things used to be back in the day. I enjoy watching old movies and seeing the fashions, automobiles, and architecture of days gone by.
On a recent visit to San Francisco, CA, I got a chance to stay at the Steinhart Hotel, which was built in 1910. The Steinhart is a boutique hotel/apartment that also offers long-term accommodations…great for business trips! I’d always wanted to experience ‘city life’ in San Francisco & the Steinhart afforded me the opportunity to do so.
I loved all the architectural details.
Going up? Step back in time in this lift (elevator). We stayed in the Deluxe 1 bedroom apartment, located on the 2nd floor, facing Sutter St. Our one bedroom had a queen bed, living room with full-sized (Murphy) bed, dining area, full kitchen and bathroom. Our room was spacious, and I felt like I was in one of my favorite classic movies. We even had a walk-in closet! This desk near the window was just my style, I enjoyed hearing all the sounds of the city below. Our bed was all decked out in purple, it’s like they were expecting me or something! Our little one was so excited to have his very own Murphy bed- Daddy Powers lowered it for him. (It was my first time seeing a Murphy bed in person, I’d only seen them in old films.) I liked that I could see our little one’s bed from ours, he really liked it too. Staying in a new place can often be a bit overwhelming for children. Being able to see our bed from his helped put him at ease. The sheer size of the parlor (that’s what I called the living room the entire time we were there) was remarkable. We had a fantastic view of Sutter St. from our windows… The Steinhart is just a 10 minute walk from Union Square, excellent if you wanna go shopping. We walked over to Macy’s, then stopped at one of the nearby restaurants. Great location.
I really felt like I was livin’ the City life while at the Steinhart. With the windows open, we could hear all the hustle & bustle of the city…and I loved it! I had wi-fi access, the bed was comfy and I got to step back in time for a bit…what’s not to like?! The Steinhart
