Christmas! Just the word is enough to bring a smile to my face. I’m instantly transported back to my childhood, to happy times spent with family. I spent most holidays visiting my Grandparents, in East Texas. I’d get to see my cousins, spend the night at their house and have a blast playing hide-and-go-seek!
My Grandparent’s house was always Grand Central Station on the big day. We’d all gather there for our meals & to open presents. My Grandmother was the best cook & baker ever! She’d make so many different desserts: cakes, pies, and candy like peanut brittle, divinity & fudge.
My Grandmother made EVERYTHING from scratch-her chocolate cake & chocolate frosting… so good & all from scratch. I can still smell that cake, nobody made chocolate cake like her. I was always in awe of her cooking skills – I still am.
I guess that’s why Christmas Desserts bring a smile to my face- they remind me of my childhood, my Grandmother and all the delicious meals I enjoyed when I was a kid. .
